Affiliated Clubs/ Out of State Hunting Regions
Have you ever dreamt of a trophy deer hunt to Kansas, or chasing bugling bull elk through the Colorado mountains? How about the flush of 100 cackling pheasants in South Dakota or Iowa? Have you been turned off by the high prices of guided hunts, or the stories of public lands overrun by other hunters?
American Sportsmen’s Club (ASC) is the exclusive area franchisee for southern Michigan of the American Wildlife Association(AWA). As such, we lease private hunting property throughout Michigan and Ohio for our members’ use. Also, through its affiliation with the AWA, ASC provides its members with access to hundreds of thousands of acres of prime leased hunting property, outside of Michigan. Instead of paying $2,000 to $5,000 for a 5 day hunt in one state, ASC provides its members with nearly 180 days of hunting opportunity in 14 different states at a fraction of the cost of a single guided hunt. Furthermore, to aid our members in getting a quality out of state hunting experience, ASC has created the “How To Plan A Hunt” program. The program is managed by ASC’s Out of State Coordinator, who serves as the members’ very own travel and booking agent. Our coordinator works with our sister clubs to narrow down the large number of lease properties available and provides the members with a short list of private hunting properties for the area and game they seek. By using our “How To Plan A Hunt” program, our members have access to the following:
- The Out of State Coordinator
- Hundreds of property maps
- Pre-selected and recommended properties
- Up to date reports on game sighted and harvested on the property
- Travel routes to and from Michigan
- Gas stations and truck stops
- Food and lodging recommendations
- Sporting good store locations
- Butcher shops and taxidermists
- State hunting seasons
- Application deadlines
- License information

In case members are still not comfortable heading out on their own, ASC will be sponsoring “Tag-Along” hunts throughout the year. A “Tag-Along” hunt will allow members to participate in an out of state hunt with other members. At least one member of the party will be an experienced out of state hunter who will set up the trip. This allows even those not interested in setting up an unguided hunt on their own, a chance to enjoy the full benefits of their ASC membership.
